Warrior Robotics

robotics

ASFG’s Warrior Robotics is an award-winning, after-school, FIRST Robotics program for students in grades 1-12, dedicated to developing future leaders through hands-on experience in robotics. Our mission is to mentor students in essential STEAM skills while fostering creativity, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving. As a competitive and team-based program,  students work together with coaches and mentors designing, building, and automating robots and tech projects for robotics events across Mexico and beyond. While mastering technical skills like coding and engineering, students also develop critical thinking, teamwork, and time management abilities. At Warrior Robotics, we build the future, not just robots.

About Our Program

Mission:

The mission of ASFG Warrior Robotics is to mentor students to learn valuable STEAM skills, and to help students become creative thinkers, purposeful learners, effective collaborators, confident leaders, and capable problem solvers.

Vision:

ASFG Warrior Robotics will be an inclusive, extensive, and competitive robotics program that focuses on enriching the whole learner.

FIRST Competition Categories

ASFG Warrior Robotics takes part in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an international non-profit organization whose mission is to “inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators...”   ASFG participates in three of FIRST’s competition categories. The three programs are described below, taken directly from the FIRST website. To learn more about FIRST, visit their website www.firstinspires.org

FLL Explore 1st and 2nd Grade

It’s never too early to discover STEM. FIRST LEGO League Explore is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids while exciting them through a brand they know and love − LEGO®.

Guided by adult coaches and FIRST® Core Values, students build models using LEGO® SPIKE Essential and create Show Me posters to present what they learned. The program focuses on building interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through a real-world challenge – to be solved by research, critical thinking, and imagination.

FLL Challenge 3rd-6th Grade

FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge focuses on solving real-world problems such as food safety, recycling, energy, and more using STEM concepts, plus a big dose of fun.

With the guidance of coaches, teams apply science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts to solve a real-world problem.

Teams design, build, and program a LEGO® SPIKE Pri robot, then compete on a themed table-top playing field. Along their journey, students develop critical-thinking and team-building skills, build STEM self-confidence, and gain valuable perspective on the importance of failure in the learning process.

FIRST Tech Challenge teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format.

Guided by coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team.

Robot kits can be coded using a variety of levels of Java-based programming. Teams design and build robots, raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach to earn specific awards including college scholarships.
