ASAP

ASAP is a school within a school, providing an individualized learning program for students from 3rd language backgrounds who would not otherwise be able to attend ASFG. A small multi-aged group of students receives instruction from specially trained educators in order to accelerate their acquisition of English. Computers are an integral part of the ASAP classroom. Students use a state-of-the-art English program to increase vocabulary, practice oral language skills, and compose their own stories. Computers provide the opportunity for individualized work supervised by the teachers.

ASAP students take advantage of the wonderful facilities at ASFG such as the well-stocked libraries, swimming pool, gym, playground, and the extracurricular programs. Socialization is a key component of ASAP. Classroom buddies as well as teachers help ASAP students integrate in social activities. Awareness of cultural differences, American, Mexican and others, helps our students to "feel at home" every step of the way.

ASAP accepts students from primary through high school. Younger children enter regular Early Childhood classes learning English along with their classmates. Students may have limited English, or no previous knowledge of English. Spanish is not a requirement. General requirements are the same as for regular admissions to the school. The American School is the only institution in Guadalajara that offers a unique program designed to integrate foreign students into our high-quality school.

SSL (Spanish as a Second Language)

The SSL program is an individualized learning program for students with limited Spanish proficiency to receive instruction from trained teachers to accelerate the acquisition of Spanish.

Classes are held during regular hours for a group of students of different ages who are withdrawn from their regular classroom to receive additional support at their level. With progress and mastery in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding Spanish, students will be able to integrate into regular Spanish classes.

Teachers and classmates help SSL students integrate into social activities while immersing themselves in Mexican culture.
