The ASFG Middle School believes in providing its students with a developmentally responsive education characterized by teachers who are committed to young adolescents, a shared vision, high expectations, family and community partnerships, and a positive school climate.
Our school is designed to meet the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical developmental needs of adolescent students from 11-15 years of age. To these ends, our Middle School is organized around many of the principles and organizational structures recommended by the Association for Middle Level Education.
Welcome to the ASFG Middle School!
Here you will encounter a dedicated staff committed to providing our students with real-world, relevant, and engaging learning opportunities. Through our comprehensive curriculum and innovative teaching strategies, we strive to cultivate an environment that prepares students to be critical, creative thinkers; purposeful learners; effective communicators; and community contributors.
The team approach of our middle school is a key component to our students’ success. We often refer to this aspect of our middle school as being our Super Power. Our teachers work within interdisciplinary grade-level teams to plan instruction and meet the needs of the students in their grade level. Because teachers share the same students and have a common planning period, they are able to respond quickly to the needs of students through collaboration, meeting jointly with parents, designing thematic units of study, and planning service learning projects to enrich our students’ experiences. Working together within their teams, our teachers carefully monitor and attend to the academic, social, and emotional development of their students.
The middle school principal is David Markman, an ASFG administrator with over 25 years as a part of the ASFG Community. A native of Denver, Colorado, Mr. Markman holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Science from San Diego State University and a Colorado State Secondary Social Studies Teaching License. He has also earned master's degrees in International Education and Educational Leadership from Framingham State University.
On behalf of the middle school team, the middle school cordially invites you to take some time to visit the Middle School section of the website where you will learn more about our programs!
